TWENTY LOOKS OR PARIS IS BURNING AT THE JUDSON CHURCH (XS)

Trajal Harrell

Rewind to 1960s New York, a hotbed of change

Uptown in Harlem, African-American and Latino LGBT communities gather to catwalk their desires in a ‘rich white world. Downtown, dancers congregate in Judson Church to transform the vocabulary of modern dance forever.

Trajal Harrell imagines an extravagant meeting between the two. Minimalism and flamboyance collide to challenge the divisions of race, class and wealth. For all of us who imagine we could be someone else, something else: this is your parade.

A global triumph, New York hits Bristol with this intoxicating performance of strutting, voguing, and irresistible movement.

For IBT15, Trajal and collaborators perform a trilogy of M, S & XS.

This performance (XS) is a solo performance and the most intimate version of the trilogy.
